These spirit houses hold a dear departed family member in the form of their spirit dolls. These are more pieces that represent the mythology of the connection of the Monarch butterfly migration with our loved ones returning to us during dia de los muertos. We are not in the thick of this migration but every year since my father passed away I am visited by a Monarch butterfly on his birthday. I am able to sit with him for a few minutes each year.
